So I was in the quarry this weekend helping out with an OW class. Since we had a couple of groups in rotation, I was in the water/wetsuit from about 9am to 3pm with only a couple of short breaks to change tanks. The wetsuit is disinfected after each use.

A couple of days later, the bumps started showing. I seem to be predisposed to this, even though I'm not immunosupressed. I've gotten it twice before from the same hot tub my wife has been in without problem.

Is there anything I can do/apply pre or post dive to prevent this in the future? I know "don't spend 6 hours in a wetsuit" is the obvious answer but that's not really going to happen.

Here's a link that will give you some more infromation...

Folliculitis...

Seems that you need to identify the cause and then do all you can to avoid it. If you have to be in the water for 6 hours then I don't think there is anything topical that would be that long lasting. I can't imagine that you really can't get outta the water long enough to "clean up" and use some sort of barrier to protect your skin. I'd definately consult a dermatologist.
