All:

I'm just about ready to get serious about buying a focusing light.

I've had my eye on the Fisheye FIX Light HG20DX for a while, and like the variable power; however..., as I recall, at least as of a couple of years ago, this light was having problems with bulbs burning out way too soon.

Does anyone know if they've made any corrections to this problem?

Thanks!

My preference would be a multi LED light. You need a wide beam of soft light so these work really well and the burn times is often 8 or more hours. I use 2 YS110 strobes each with a target light and a Micro Frogman 3 LED (4 x AAA) as well as 6 LED 4 x AA Light.

Bosun:

Thank you for your input.

I haven't purchased a focusing light yet, but I will check out the Micro Frogman.

I'm going to need something petty soon as I just got the Nikon 105 Macro VR.

Well....

I'm glad I didn't rush out and buy a focus light right away.

I understand that Fisheye just came out with the 1000 lumen FIX LED 1000DX !!

Not cheap, but not that much more than the HG20DX

Any preliminary comments will be appreciated!

Thanks

Jet Pilot,

If at all possible, I would definitely wait for the new LED 1000 light! It is a bit pricier than the HG20, but well worth it.

I love my Fisheye. I did have trouble with the first one I got with the leak detector light going off before I even put it in water. And it turned out that it did leak underwater. But Reef Photo was in top form with their excellent customer service and replaced it no charge.

Hey Mike:

Wyant here...

Yes..., I'll hang on for the Fisheye LED 1000.

Good seeing you at your shop in Newport Beach last month. VERY NICE!

Hey hey Wyant, I was 99% sure it was you, but didn't want to make a fool of myself! hahaha. It was good seeing you too. Ill let you know when we get them in.
