can you dive 8 hours after flying?

yes, you can dive immediately after flying. What you can't do is dive and then immediately jump on a plane. Recommended wait is 24 hours after diving before flying.

Depends on who you ask...
Dan's current recommendation is 12 hours after a single (no staged decompression) dive, 18 or more hours after repetitive dives.
The NOAA manual has a table that has recommended delay times based on your end repetitive group and the cabin altitude you'll reach.
Realize that most "generic" recommendations assume a cabin altitude of 8,000 ft MSL, (most modern airliners' cabins stay a bit lower than that) so are not for unpressurized aircraft going higher than that or for driving over passes higher than that.
24 hours is precious plenty in most cases.
However... (there's always a "however," isn't there) there have been cases of DCS from flying in people who haven't even been in the water, so no waiting period is an absolute guarantee.
