I am open for all ideas.

I'm fairly new to diving, but I know that St. Petersburg has some cool stuff going on. My husband's family has a boat and they went out with a group.

Look into it, but I think there's some cool stuff to see near Skyline Bridge. I would definitely talk to a pro before making the trek. Good luck!

North to Venice is a cool fossil shark tooth dive, BUT head south to Key Largo. It'll be worth the drive. Shallow reefs, deep wrecks, and everything in-between.

Palm Beach to Ft. Lauderdale also has lots of good dive sites.

Hmm. Key Largo….Just sounds Nice…I have been trying to do my homework on FL., as I believed I had said I Need to be in Naples Monday night – allowing us the weekend to enjoy, I really am narrowing down the toss up …. Crystal River VS Key Largo… should this be a no brainier???? I have never dove FL...

Go for Key Largo, I've been to Crystal River too. The Keys are great, the Manatees at Crystal River are cool too but the Keys have alot more variety.

No Brainer...Key Largo.

There's really nothing on the SW Florida coast worth diving that doesn't entail at least a 2 hour boat ride. Definitely do not go to Venice for the shark tooth dive; vis has been in the range of 0 to 1 ft. lately.

In Key Largo, check with dive charters and set up a dive on the Spiegal Grove and/or the Coast Guard cutters Duane and Bibb. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Plus the manatees in Crystal River in May might be a hard(er) find.

The shark tooth dives are filling up. Only a couple spots left in all of May. http://floridawestscuba.com/
Viz changes and can be up to 10 feet. If it sounds interesting, contact them and they'll be honest with you. You can always cancel with 24 hours notice if viz is not what you are look for. There is nothing like finding a 3" to 5" shark tooth to show off!

OK... Thanks for all the good ideas and replys... KEY LARGO here we come!!! SOOOO I guess the next question is does anyone have a suggestion or comment regarding dive shops there... A good dive shop and ones to stay away from?????

Hey, I just go back from Key Largo last night. The diving is great there. I always dive with Horizon Divers. http://www.horizondivers.com. They are very laid back and friendly. The Suites of Key Largo is where we stay. It used to be the best Western. Its very nice and clean and It is right next door to the dive shop.
