Has anyone flew from LAX to Jakarta lately? I was wondering what carrier your used? I'm using DELTA but there are some serious layovers.

I've flown to CGK from the West Coast, though it was SFO. Check EVA Air, they usually have a quick turnaround in TPE.

Doing a quick air matrix search, EVA, ANA, JAL, Cathay Pacific all have flights from LAX to CGK with short, under 4 hours or so. All those airlines are a step above Delta.

My scheduled flight from the east coast in September has a 2-hour layover in Doha. I actually wouldn't mind an extra hour or so.

Someone is asking me if the plan to move the capital out of Jakarta has impacted air travel at CGK? Not sure that it will have any impact, but thought I'd ask those who's been there lately, if there are any noticeable changes. Thanks!

I use to fly this route alot (well both LAX and SFO)

Best way is through Singapore. There is daily direct flights from LAX to SIN on SQ Airlines. Then from SIN there well over a dozen daily flights from SIN to CGK. It is pretty easy and 2 flights with 1 layover in Singapore is pretty good considering the distance your covering. Only issue is that flight is loooooooong even in business class you can get some major cabin fever, and in economy... that going to be a rough 17hr in a little seat that only leans back a couple degrees.

Other option is SFO to SIN. Same thing SQ or UA have direct flights. Personally I always choose SQ any day over UA (all!! US air carriers seriously have some the worst and rudest customer service agents in the world. There is something very wrong with the US air carrier business)

@Titatom

The plan to move the capital will not change the fact that Jakarta remains the largest financial center in Indonesia, The airport remains the main entrypoint to Indonesia (although flying into Manado or Bali are often better options, depending on where you are going within Indonesia).

singapore airlines through singapore or eva through taipei or cathay through hong kong
