Posting this fix in case it might be helpful to someone else...
I had suspected the battery on my UK AquaSun needed replacing. After charging overnight it just flashed the light on ever so briefly. So I cut the black wrapper off the battery pack to see if I might be able to rebuild it myself, rather than spending $65 on a replacement battery. After pulling the plastic cap off the top (it had been hot-glued to the battery cells), could see some obvious corrosion on one of the terminals. Rubbed clean with some fine steel wool -- made a few sparks when making contact with the battery beside it. Stuck it back together and it works just fine. Will apply some new hot glue for the top and bottom caps and then wrap it all in duck tape (never use that stuff on ducts!).
