Hi there,

Does anyone know a good website that have photos and maybe some brief descriptions about fishes? I'm looking for one to help me identify the kind of fish that I have photographed.

Thanks, but I'm kind of looking for something more like where I have a photo of a fish and find out its name, sort of like something to help me to identify the fishes.

if you click on identification in the top options bar and fill in the location you can then use keys to identify your fish. you will end up with a load of pictures of similar fish in the same family.

i used fishbase.org when writing up my dissertation and it's fantastic. Some of the species ID cards have drawings instead of pictures, but most have photos and a whole wealth of info. What's best is that you can search by location or species etc.

When you post it here, please tell us where in the world you photographed it. I am pretty good with Caribbean fish but don't have a clue when it comes to South Pacific fish.
