I finally got a chance to use my new A570IS during my trip to Coron & Tubbataha last week. It's a very nice camera with some decent video capability. My previous camera was A95. A570IS can shoot video until you run out of memory, compare to just 30 secs with A95.

My only complain is it's using 2 batteries instead of 4. Resulted in slower flash charge and you have to replace the battery almost after every dive.

I used Ikelite housing & tray, ULCS arm, Wide Angle Lens and Sea & Sea YS-90 Strobe. I didn't crop the picture so as you can see there's no vignetting whatsoever.

Let me know what you think.

really nice!

What are you using for batteries? A good set of rechargeables might be of benefit.

I use MAHA POWEREX 2700 mAh AA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries and routinely go 2 dives between battery changes.

I used the same battery. But it's older. They normally last 2 dives. never 3 dives. So it depends, if I take tons of pictures, I changed it after every dive just to be save, incase a whaleshark decided to showed up.

The other problem that I have is that I don't like the A Series metering system. You have to push the shutter button halfway. How's the metering on G9 or S5IS? Anybody know?

I was lucky if I got 25 shots using Alkaline batteries, so I started using Energizer Lithiums for my work camera (A540), and bought a set for my own camera a A720 IS. They both have lasted well over 750 shots with about a 1/3 being flash. So I bought a set of lithiums for my new A570 IS which I purchased for underwater use along with an Ikelite housing. Plan on using it next week in Utila. I'm also bringing some rechargable Sanyo eneloop batteries to try them out. Their big selling point is they don't discharge very fast when in storage. They say they will hold 85% of their charge for over a year. I'll let you know how they work. Too bad I didn't have enough money left for an external strobe this trip, but maybe next trip.

I ended up not using the lithium battery.

Do you remember what settings you were using? I think your pictures turned out very well.
