I just finished my first solo dive this afternoon and thing went swimmingly. It was really nice and relaxing. I really liked not have to lead or follow, I could just do my own thing. I can definately see doing this more in my future:D

There is something very liberating about being alone. You can focus totally on what your doing, and your technique, without dividing your attention between what you are doing and where your partner is. It requires more careful planning, but in my opinion it is worth the effort

I am assuming, you have all you need for your solo dives (pony, second mask...blah,blah,blah). Some people wouldn't do it and some of us love it.:D Read up on this board about a solo diving and if you are not certified I would suggest to take up a class, but I've never been a scuba :police:, so all up to you. Dive safe, enjoy it.:christmastree:

Use your head, think, think, think, relax, and have fun. Congratulations on a new adventure.

Welcome to the Dark side, Solo Diving, as long as your equipped and have the training., I took the SDI Solo course, love diving solo for all the previous mentioned reasons plus I feel safer being self sufficient.

Less than 50 dives and already diving solo? I was over 60 at least...

To get your Solo card SDI requires advanced certification and at least a 100 dives as a pre-requisite. Although I must admit I did a 30 minute Solo dive in Curacoa with only 36 dives under my belt, but I was hooked on solo after this thats why I took the SDI course as soon as I had 100 dives under my belt.

I will be hitting 200 tomorrow, and several of those are solo dives. My first was dive 73. I do enjoy the freedom, but I still like diving with buddies more... not for peace of mind, because we're pretty separated anyway and I always dive with buddies the same way I dive solo, but just being able to share a dive with someone else is something I really like. Plus, when I have pre-arranged a dive with someone, it's a lot more motivation to actually get my gear together and go!

The LDS here is going to be offering the TDI Solo Diver cert, which I plan on taking. Hopefully I'll learn some new things, but mostly it's so I'll have a card so when I go on dive charters in the future I'll hopefully be able to dive without worrying about being matched up with a buddy. Of course, then I'll have to figure out a way to pack along a pony bottle when I travel. My current 30cf pony is a big large.

My best video footage, especially on fish behavior, was captured while solo. A solo diver really becomes part of the neighborhood quickly.
