Hey, fellow XZ-1 owner!!!
I purchased the XZ-1 in June for my Bonaire trip so am a newbie underwater photographer. Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination and have yet to play with the manual settings but will for my upcoming Tobermory trip. Not going to offer any criticism, but will comment that I love the color in your anemone pic. Did you use a strobe? If yes, which one?
The comments from all the great photographers in this forum that I found helpful were to get close to the subject and when you think you're close enough, move in even closer. The other was use Photoshop and/or Lightroom to process the pics which it appears you have with the black and white pics.
Also, because I don't have a strobe I was told to shoot up , not down, to get more ambient light.
Living in Guam, you must have great sites and viz. Happy shooting, and look forward to seeing more of your pics as you shoot them.
The camera and housing was not part of this year's dive budget but I got it anyway. Strobe will have to wait until next year. Baby steps for this newbie XZ1 user.Sam, The small oly strobes actually work fairly well and for a nice strobe, are low in cost. It is all I use these days and while not very strong, they can take a great number of images and recycle fairly fast. They are the only $200 strobes that I can think of one would want to own and they only work with Oly and Panasonic cameras.
I'll have to try that too. Thanks!Sam, I just used the internal flash for the anemone picbeginners luck i guess
