Hello Tendi ... we are on the Siren in Palau February 6-13 and then on to Thailand with no plans there yet...haven't been before so I'm doing all the "due diligence" stuff. We have dived in the Maldives and highly recommend the Scuba Spa ... probably one of the largest liveaboards and it actually has a beautiful spa area if you don't feel like diving or aren't a diver. Dive boat is the most beautiful I've seen--all teak; takes about 22 divers. Great staff. When we went there were only 6 of us (December) so we had the whole place to ourselves. If you want a hotel that has a great dive master and equipment, we highly recommend the Sheraton. It occupies its own island and their motorboats pick you up directly from the airport.

The ocean is like bathwater and the diving is fabulous--beats the Red Sea by a long shot and almost Fiji (still our favorite place). The downside is that the government and possibly locals, as well as tourists, tend to treat the ocean as a dumping ground and it's disgusting to see so much floating plastic. Don't go into the main city (the airport is on its own island) unless you absolutely have to.

Cheers ...
Sandy (scubagirlwithdogs)
