Well, I just got a surprise by being diagnosed with 1st Degree AV Block on my last ECG (slightly over the .20s P-R). I am 50 yo and otherwise in good health.
My doctor assured me that since I exhibit no other symptoms relating to this, I can continue with my exercise regimen (daily stretching, 3-5 mile runs 3-4 days/week and about 4 sessions of intense strength training per week as well).
But he wasn't able to comment on any situations specific to scuba diving that may relate to this condition. Specifically, I was wondering if this condition can make me more susceptible to DCS, due to a slight modification in the rhythm of the atria and ventricals in the heart.
I couldn't find any other thread on the topic on SB. Any of you medical-type divers out there have any input on this topic? I assure you that I won't consider any discussion to be binding or of a medical diagnosis/recommendation.
I just would like to be a bit more up on what this may or may not expose me to during diving, particularly during heavy nitrogen loading and deco.
Thx
