as a comparision to Jet fins, basically they don't.
Jets are very stiff blades, the Viper is a very flexible blade. Both schools of thought have many supporters and opponents, but testing has shown that for everything other than surface swimming a more flexible blade will give you the same propulsion for less work, and that top speeds are similar for most fins.

As for the vipers specifically I don't know, but I know that the Aeris Velocity fin (which looks very similar) has been rated as a top performer many times. its very comparible to the age old stand-by Mares Avanti Quattro
