My wife has Fibromyalgia, a muscle-nerve condition that causes her whole body to ache and her muscles to be in spasm. She has snorkeled w/o any problem for several years and one doctor has cleared her to get certified. Diving will be on easy shallow reefs, above 33 feet and most likely in the 15-25 foot range.

We are looking for a used pair of Apollo Bio-Fins in size Medium. Have considered TwinJets. Our location prevents us from trying out various fins before her class starts at a distant shop with experience in this disease.

Just looking for the easiest, most comfortable fin for No Stress diving.

If anyone has fins collecting dust please let me know.

Thanks,

Cagemaker

Biofins are a little stiffer than Scubapro Twin Jets and I'd recommend the latter instead.

Also be aware that Biofins come in two different compounds one being a bit stiffer than the other.

Plain old basic Force Fins.

My wife has MS and hasn't got the strangth for any normal fins. With the force fins she's just fine. I can't stand the things but they were a blessing for her.

She is also a deep freak. The deeper the better. When she was in a wheelchair a dive to 100+, maxing out the tables had her walking without assisstance for up to a week.

Both Bio Fins and Twin Jets have been recommended with all the stereo typical arguments that have been rehashed many times. I always respect DA Aquamaster's opinion so I would have no problem modifying my order for Twin Jets.

I started using Jetfins in 1968. I have some Force Fins which I think are great because of comfort and small size. I can get propulsion in current just fine. My wife did not seem to like them for some reason. They are still a viable option as well.

Thanks again,

The Twin Jets come in 2 different compounds as well. The Black are supposed to give you a bit more propulsion than any of the colored ones because of this.

If you have no luck, an alternative might be a pair of Tusa Platina fins. I had a pair of these a while back and found them comfy and 'soft' in action.
The Platinas rely on a stiff plate under the fin giving rigidity on the downstroke and allowing the fin to 'give in' on the upstroke. If you removed the plate (it comes out easily) you'd have a very soft fin indeed that would offer much less resistance on both up and down strokes.
Platinas were not a great success, they promised power but didn't really work that well so there may be quite a few pairs out there gathering dust -mine became shop fins and eventually disappeard I'm afraid, I wish I still had them so that I could post them on to you.
Good luck
