I finally decided to take the AOW course after 12 years of diving. My wife and i will be doing the deep navigation night wreck and ppb. The week after we are doing nitrox.

Thanks i am more excited about the nirtox the the advanced, my wife is nervous about both.

Were doing the AOW with the shop and instructor that i certified with, its a PADI shop. The nitrox we are doing with an SSI shop close to home he has a deal going for 75 bucks.

If you've been diving for 12 years the AOW will be a no brainer. Won't be much of a challenge at all. But at least you'll then have the card. It seems to carry way more weight than it should, but so it is.

Ya i know my wife could use the extra work with an instructor, she is a realitively new diver, so i figured i would take it, next step is nitrox, and rescue in the fall

Have fun, Aaron. AOW should be easy for you. IMO it's real value to you is it will allow you to take Rescue, that's the course worth taking.
I have SSI Nitox. If you can do simple math you will not have any problems with it. I like the SSI tables better than the PADI ones.

The navigation practice in AOW is worthwhile, especially in cold 10' vis waters.
