Hi,

I am going to the Maldives in a couple of weeks and is planning to use my Gopro HD2 for snorkeling only together with my kids. I understand that I need to buy the GoPro flat lens dive housing, but my question is: Do I also need to buy a backscatter flip tilter (or any other filter), or is a red filter a waste of money on shallow depths. Thanks for your replies. Regards, Jens, Copenhagen, Denmark

Save your money. A filter is not required in clear tropical waters when snorkelling. The dive housing will make a huge difference and worth every cent. You will need some form of handle or tray to hold the camera. A Grenade handle style grip for snorkelling will work fine and cheap. You could even make one up yourself. Enjoy the trip.
