Hi,

Am looking at 7 days diving in Fiji in late August / early September of this year with my wife.

We want to do do at least 2 days of the shark encounter diving and then the rest "other diving".

My question is; Is there enough diving to do based in the same area we need to be (Pacific Harbour) for the Shark diving or is it better to move somewhere else and split our stay?

Also, for people who have dicved this area, which operation for both the shark encounter and for regular diving would you reccomend, Beqa Adventure Divers or Aqua trek?

All suggestions and advice welcome.

Thanks

I am sure you will get a lot of differing opinions.

I spent a month at Fiji Palms in Pacific Harbor and did the shark dive several times with Bega adventure divers as well as a lot of regular reef dives with them. I was VERY happy with Bega Adventure Divers.

I have a good friend that is an ex-pat living in Fiji, and in the dive business in Suva. He recommends Aqua Trek and dives with them himself when he does the shark dive.

When I dove the non-shark dives in that area I was generally disappointed. I personally would spend a couple of days there doing the shark dive and then go to another area for the rest of the trip. I would suggest spending the rest of your time at Naigani (I am their representative in the USA), Volivoli, or perhaps Namena.

I thought that the only great part of Beqa (including the shark dive) was the top of a small pinnacle dive. Some truly great diving in Fiji, but it ain't in Beqa. Get thee elsewhere!

Thanks to both for the above.

So for thise that have dived the following, would you be good enough to list your prefernces, and reasons why, for the following locations;

Bligh waters
Voli Voli
Rainbow Reef
Namena

These would either be done before or after the Beqa Lagoon Shark dives depending on flights / transfers available.

Many thanks for your time....

I have been sending folks to VoliVoli and nothing but raves. They are filling fast so I'd check availability. Rainbow Reef is also amazing. I also book the Nai'a liveaboard and they recommend Beqa Adventure.
