Hi hi, i just moved to Melbourne from Europe and are looking forward to get into the water. I've been in Western Australia for Holiday and that was nice. Now my idea is to go Fiji or Vanuatu in August. But I can't decide where to go. Some say diving in Fiji is more nice but pretty touristic. Any suggestions/experiences are very welcome,

Thanks,
Marloes

Hey that is really simple.....PNG :)

sorry couldn't resist.......

both are really different places, suggest you do some internet research, Fiji has lots of political troubles at the moment, and by August well lets just say maybe your deposit is wasted. Not a nice place to get stuck in when a coup is happening. Elections there have been demanded by other pacific nations to happen in May. So far by our papers here in PNG, the self appointed leader has refused to hold such election.

Vanuatu is beautiful, with the best beef in the world, also great dive sites at Espirito Santo or at Hideaway on Efate Island in Port Vila. Tanna Island is also some great diving but needs good transport. Vanuatu outside of Port Vile is not that touristy really, nothing like Fiji.

Of course, 500 AUs Brisbane to Port Moresby return airfare is something to write home about.

Hope it helps
