I'm heading to Fiji on a live aboard surf trip, but will try to get some dives in. I've been pointed towards Subsurface as the operator in Musket Cove as that's a location we'll be for several days.

Does anyone have any direct experience with this operation and shop? Any other recommendations in that area are appreciated.

Thanks - Steve

I did four dives with subsurface while i stayed at Malolo for a family vacation last year. My experience was ok. Not great, not really bad. They definatelly are focused on the very casual diver crowd. Btw. be careful with your tank valve. On one of my dives just shortly before i jumped in the water i realized that the boat captain had closed my tank and opened it half twist back. So i got a couple of breaths and then it was done.

Oh, you got me, I was there in 2004. Just dove two days with them. They were OK for us. That island is a resort/sailing destination so that's the crowd they have. It can be some distance out to some of the sites like Supermarket. Can't add much more than they were competent and the boat didn't break down.

Thanks for the information...a bit late on my reply. I had a great time in Fiji, but spent it all 9 days surfing off the boat we were on and no diving. :( Surf was great though!

for future reference. Their gear is reasonably up to date and in good repair.
Their focus is very much on the resort diver but they are able to organise more difficult dives. On the island they don't have any fancy gas or tec rigs. There is the possibility they might have on the mainland but I never asked.
