A friend is going there and looking for recommendation. Appreciate any insights. Thanks!

taveuni - stay at paradise taveuni and dive with taveuni dive. savusavu - you can't beat jean micheal cousteau resort if you got the $$$s!

Taveuni -- I highly recommend Nakia Resort and Taveuni Ocean Sports -- the reviews on Tripadvisor are accurate. We dove with them in December 2010 for 8 days and are returning this December. They are very safety conscious, but they will also take you to the best diving under the best conditions with regard to current, etc...

We recently got back from Fiji. Just off Teveuni is Matangi Island and all the glowing reports about how great it is are no exaggeration. Great dining and a very friendly, fantastic resort

We also stayed at Koro Sun and dove with Koro Sun Divers. Nice people but I would look elsewhere. We had a 10 day package at Koro Sun with 7 days of diving paid for, and opted to go to the Jean Micheal Cousteau Resort for our last day of diving. Extremely well run operation. Make sure you go with someone who has boats that work and understand the currents and tides

Both Matangi and Cousteau are expensive

Taveuni on a more budget concious trip, garden island resort. Dive the rainbow reef right in front of resort every day. Lots of current but you are well rewarded for it.

Just got back from 10 days on Taveuni, diving Rainbow Reef and Vuna Reef. Stayed at Paradise Resort and used Taveuni Dive/ProDive for resort dive package. Taveuni Dive is great--fun staff, good attention to safety, customer focused, take you to the best dives available depending on weather conditions. We got a great value on our dive pkg. The only negative I can offer is their dive boats are pretty basic, no frills.
