I have used my American Express at FA for years. The front desk does exchange currency and they are better than most in town. I dont know if they have an ATM or not but you can certainly email FA and ask. I dont know about the regular rooms, but the Casita Suites all have safes in them. You might check with them to see if a safe is provided in your room. If not, you might try upgrading to the Casita. Very nice and large rooms and they used to provide a free continental breakfast with each night stay. Dont know about DH as I have never used this DO. Have a great time.

I stayed with FA last November... everything Mike said above, plus:

No ATM - there was only one ATM I found where you could get either pesos or $$$ and that was Banco Popular way downtown.

FA will give you a cash advance on a card, I think only $300 and only once per ROOM (not per person, only per room).

Dive House - hmmm, I always paid cash. Even though air is free, I chose to pay $10 for one Nitrox tank per day, and always used cash.

FA itself pretty much charges everything to your room, so you only pay once when you checkout.

We have been staying at Fiesta Americana for years. If you take cash, you can store it in the safety boxes at the front desk (no charge). The desk at FA does give an excellent exchange rate. Try NOT to use the ATM's to exchange $ for pesos - there is no gaurantee of the transaction security. Have fun, I'll be there in two days.

Hi,
All the rooms have safes. Excellent exchange rate at the desk.

Are travelers checks easy to use there? I had a hard time using them in Roatan and ended up having to get more cash fromthe ATM.

NP with Travelers checks on Coz

That's funny I just asked the Dive House this same question today. They said they take cash, travelers checks, Visa and Mastercard. We're counting down the days to April 23rd!!!

Just got back yesterday. FA had the best exchange rate we found at 14.04 ... while around town we saw in the 13's. They exchanged either cash or travelers cheques no problem. Never used our credit card or the ATM.

Just got back late yesterday from CZM. The exchange at FA was the best we saw -14.04 for four days and 14.41 the last two. The locals (dive masters and mates) like the US$ tips though. When shopping, we found the merchants enjoyed the US$ and we were able to barter a bit more successfully (it doesn't hurt to be fluent in Spanish either).
