Location
Green Bay, WI
I was wondering if anyone has stayed here. I will be going there in late October. Any information on the location, food, staff will be appreciated. Thanks

The FA is one of our favorite places to stay on Cozumel. We've stayed there 4 or 5 times in the past years and have always enjoyed our stay. I like it for several reasons: medium price range, closer to most of the dive sites, very nice staff, and not too expensive a cab ride to town. We've done their all-inclusive and it wasn't too bad. Nice pool and decent rooms.

enjoy.

FA is really a wonderful all around resort. We stay there at least once a year. The food is fine. Not great, not bad. They offer an AI but we have so many favorite restaurants in Coz that we dont use that option. If you choose the Casita Suites, this comes with a free continental breakfast as the restaurant. Very nice.

Close to the southern dive sites that we prefer. Walk across the street to the pier and your ready to board the boat.

Staff is always very accomodating.

Have a great time.

Here's my recent thread on the place http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=85143

I think you will easily find lots of feedback on FA within this subforum.

Have a good time.

I stayed at the FA last May and will be there again this coming July. It's a good value for the cost, far enough from town that you don't get the cruise ship traffic, close enough that it's a cheap cab ride away.

We did the all-inclusive package the last time, it was ok. Food was decent, plus it was nice not having to wait around for a bill in the morning when we needed to get on the boat. WE're going with the all-inclusive again this time, but only for convenience. I'm planning 18 dives over 6 days, so that doesn't leave a lot of time to go into town to eat on a regular basis.

You'll enjoy your stay.

Hi, just got back from there a few days ago. Make sure you get a room on the upper floors, away from the pool area, as it can get a little noisy at night. Otherwise, it's a nice, little resort with a very friendly staff. We had a lot of fun playing the piano on the third floor with the broken strings. As others have mentioned, the FA offers the best of both worlds. It's only a $6 cab ride to town, shopping and restaurants and yet, far enough from the cruise ship crowds and traffic. If you get a good deal on an AI plan, go for it. We found the food pretty decent. If you are going on the European plan, make a stop at Chendraui, stock up on snacks, juice, and water and cab it to town where good, cheap restaurants are aplently. If you don't feel like going downtown, order off the decently priced room service menu. Have fun, October sure is a long way away.

Stayed at FA for 8 nights right before christmas.

How could you NOT go wrong with the All-inclusive plan? Breakfast lunch and dinner plus booze and AQUA WATER all day long for $45-50 a day?

Clean and decent rooms, nice pools, beach was decent, the Dive House On-site dive op we only went with 1 or 2 days......typically over crowded cattle boats, but Papa Hogs or other dive ops will pick you up at the FA dock.

The dive lockers for your gear (bring your own lock) are very handy to rinse off gear and stash it mere feet from the pier. That was nice, but the Dive House op itself was sometimes rude and brushed you off as 30-40 people would swarm their front desk every morning waiting for the 3-4 cattle boats to load up. We saw 16-18 people on several boats, even though their stated "limit" was 12. A norte was blowing that day, so smaller boats couldn't go out, so they over-crowded the bigger 40 + foot boats. We cancelled the dive that day instead of being part of the cow herd.

We'll be going back to FA next year for Christmas too.......great place to go compared to many other options on Coz.

Hey White, I stayed there about 4 or 5 years ago. Got a heck of a deal and couldn't resist. Physically, it is a beautiful hotel. All the rooms, except for the bungalows in the back, face the water. Rooms are nice with plenty of room. I dont remember any problems at all with the staff, service etc. The beach is across the street,NBD, and that is also where you can have a great breakfast in the morning at a reasonable price. It is also where they have a very large and nice pier as well as full service dive operator. Dont know about the DO but it is a good place to get picked up and left off. I like the location of the hotel because it is far enough away from town and the cruise cattle that you get the sense your ON AN ISLAND! The hotel also has a very nice pool with swim up bar. LOTS of divers stay at this hotel. I'm sure you'll enjoy it very much.

How could you not go wrong? Is that what you meant to say? I'm not a fan of AI, generally, but that doesn't seem like such a bad deal.

Cheers,

I stayed there in Oct. 04. I agree with all the other positive reviews - a great place, reasonable prices, nice location. I did not do the AI - only ate breakfast there a couple of times, and was not impressed. There are so many great restaurants in Coz (La Choza, El Morro, La Mission, El Capitan Navigante to name only a few) that I wouldn't limit myself to hotel food. I also recommend an upper floor room - nice ocean views to the front, and jungle canopy views from the landing where you enter the room. Be sure to shop around for deals for the hotel. I found mine on Orbitz - less than 1/2 the rate quoted on the hotel site.
Have fun!
