Hi guys I can't seem to find an answer to my question... on the web, it may be my search technique I dont know , question is : Can you permanently coil a strand of 2mm fibre optical cable, the cable is used on my strobe. Like, wrapping it around a pencil into small coils, but when you take the pencil out the coil remains.

Please I don't want all the technical jargon  just the procedure if there is one.

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. I use a wooden dowel and a low temperature heat gun. Takes some practice to get tight coils, you have to heat it a lot hotter than you would think. What you need to do is get the outside of the coil hot enough to get above its Tc and then let it cool slowly.
