Hi, Im new to this board and I read some of the threads last posted. I have to admit that even being cert. in Aug.2003, I could see how a few of you would have such an oppion on a 100lb. life bc. So with that I ask, why the low oppion on the dacor viper metal reg. All I have read on that reg. has been good. What is your oppion of this reg. Also what do you think about the zeagle ranger bc. (ps I promes I won't get mad)

Hi Scubaken

If you want people to reply to you posts, I suggest you give meaningful titles. 'Feedback' is a wee bit general. As for your questions, I guess most of them were answered in the original post.

I can't help with the Dacor but I may can shed some light on the Ranger.
I own one and have quite a few dives on it. While it's a good BC, I do find it a little overkill for most of the diving I do. I don't need 45lbs of lift and it's extra heavy material is just not necessary. It's rare that someone can actually wear out a BC. If I needed a lot more weight (and the lift to go with it) then it would be fine. While I still own it and do dive it on occasion I perfer the similar but much lighter Scout. For comparison, the Ranger has 45 lbs lift and weights 8 lbs dry, the Scout has 35lbs of lift and weighs 4lbs (actually a little less but I have added a Ranger cumberbun). Since I rarely use more than 10 lbs of weight and use only AL-80 tanks, the 35lbs of lift is still more than I need. The cost is also about half. If I were buying again and could buy only one BC, I think I would opt for the Escape, mainly due to the very minimal intergrated weight system that the Scout has. On the other extreme, if I were going to be diving doubles I would go to the BP/wings. I personally find them somewhat uncomfortable above water but they do a much better job with doubles than most any other BC.

Hope that helps.

I have to agree with gjw, next time, a better title will help you get more responces.

I have used one for years. In fact Zeagle just replaced the wing at no charge.
I teach with it in the pool all the time.

I also have a wing/bp that I keep telling myself I am going to get a single tank addaptor for.

Dacor is ok stuff but I believe uses non standard fittings. Personally I use Oceanic and Scuba Pro. After my trip to Mexico I my be getting a Posieden Reg.

Hehe... My buddy has a ranger that he has FINALY decided to retire *soon* whatever that means. The pockets are starting to fall apart among other things. It's got a few thousand dives on it and he loves diving it and just doesn't want to give it up.

I think he was leaning towords one of the new OMS modular BCs for the replacement but I havn't talked to him for a few weeks so that may have changed by now.
