I am thinking of getting a new Chute 3 BC - I currently use the Seaquest Pro QD+ but I am thinking of switching to more of a streamlined back inflate - CHUTE 3 rather than the jacket style. Does anyone have any positive/negative feedback on the CHUTE 3?

Thanks in advance......

Hi there.

I have tried the SeaQuest Pro QD Plus SL bcd and these are my findings.
It produces a reasonable amount of lift, although I found the bcd had to be fully inflated at the surface to provide more than adequate +ve bouyancy.
The underwater position was ok once I adjusted weight position etc. Although I did find that the the integrated weight pouches were a little small, ie unable to hold much lead. Nice releases though.
A piece of advice is to buy a separate SMB as the one that comes with it tends to lie down in the water.

Overall this an ok bcd. It is not let down by any major negatives. Aqualung (who make Seaquest) are a long established and respected company who produce good quality equipment. Having used Seaquest jackets in the past I would have to say that this an a fine addition to their range. (That said though, I do not use Seaquest at the moment, I am using a Beauchat Masterlift X)

I think if you do go for this bcd you will not be disappointed.

Hey Scubadiverjunkie,

Have you looked at backplate/wings? For the cost of the Chute3, you could hook yourself up with a pretty nice rig that is way more streamlined and functional. Just a thought.

I wanted to purchase a Chute3 when I was re-outfitting myself but the $400 dollar expense (in conjunction with the additional $1000+ for the rest of the gear) was too much, so I started really looking around and found the TranspacII from Dive Rite. At the shop it was more expensive but I could find it online for the same cost as the Chute3 and it fit much better. It was a nice rig, but still too expensive for me at the time.

I ended up buying a cheap back inflate bc to get me in the water and have continued the search. I know what I want and will pick it within the next 6 months. FredT backplate, harness and two piece sta, Halcyon pioneer wing. Hopefully the wing will come up on e-bay.

Joe

ps> the Chute3 fit very well and was nice, but not what I eventually want. You may also want to ask this question in the Gear Section for BC's.
