I've heard that not "every" Caribbean dive destination has great weather or conditions during the winter months. Any suggestions for a February trip? We also need activities for non-diving spouses and children.

I think Dec-Jan are the most unpredictable months as far as weather conditions in most of the Carib. Windy and rough seas are usually the problem which cause boat dives to be canceled. Doesn't always happen but can. Feb is the beginning of good diving...usually. Some people prefer the Carib in Feb-Mar timeframe as the water is a bit cooler and clearer.

Places in southern Carib like Bonaire have no bad months.

How many dives per day do you want to do? How much do you want to spend?

Topside activities... like what? Half day, full day? Beaches, water activities, shopping or tropical paradise?
More info please.

Two families going with 5 total children, ages 17 to 6. Only one may be certified by then. Divers will probably do a 2 tank morning trip. maybe 1 night dive. Need a little more than simple sand to keep everyone happy. BTW, 5 children, 3 boys & 2 girls so we also need more than shopping! (No offense to the ladies out there)

okay, my recommendation would be Anthony's Key Resort in Roatan..... they have a kids program and dolphins. Not much to do on the island, it is very tropical and remote, but there is some stuff. No real city, village and village type activities. Check out their website: http://www.anthonyskey.com/

You might also want to look into Aruba. Like Bonaire, it's far enough south that there are no bad weather months. A bad weather day there means there is an afternoon shower for 10-15 minutes.

The diving is not the "Best" in the Carib, but still pretty darn good. Reefs are in very good shape and there are some interesting wrecks. Topside, there is no end of things to do for all ages.

Mountain Dog

Roatan is a good choice so is Bonaire. Anthony's Key is a great place but so is The End of Last Resort http://www.innoflastresort.com/ you can't beat the price especially bringing the family. The price won't change that much for Feb
