I just don't log dives
just returned from a fabulous dive trip to lady elliot island (pics and trip report soon)

but sadly, on my last dive of the trip - i noticed one of my fins was broken and beyond repair

i have had these fins for 12 years... longer than i have known my hubby

it has been around the world with me, was there when i met my hubby, was there when we fell in love and later married, it was even in my offical wedding photos (refer profile pic). its been with me when ive saw my first turtle, my first manta, my first whale, my first tropical trip, my first drysuit dive, my first cold water trip, it graciously accepted its upgrade to springstraps with good grace and i have packed and unpacked it many many times over the years on our travels

now someone else might just shrug it off and enjoy the opportunity to buy something new but i dont want a new pair of fins - i want my old fashioned, non split apollo prestige fins in yellow

i guess i should be happy that its last trip and dive gave it mantas, turtles and a wreck dive and as i type it is sitting in the dive shop at sunny & warm LEI

farewell my fav fin.... i dont know how to even begin to replace you

anyone else feeling the loss of a fav piece of equipment lately???

Some Baggage Mangler snared my vintage Jets. I did buy a new pair of Turtles that work better with my dry suit.

Are you sure you didn't break that fin when you were waving it wildy over your head trying to get the dive boat to come back to get you?

My condolences, AW. I was fortunate to save my fins, but lost a strap in Bonaire a couple weeks ago during an assist with a diver in distress. I was able to replace it......much easier than replacing the fins themselves. I wish you luck in finding another set that brings you as much pleasure as the aforementioned ones have brought you.

Sorry for your loss. Perhaps you can take some solace in the fact that it died doing what it loved!

:blinking:

Perhaps some yellow duct tapes, and you can still use it as a snorkeling fin??

I don't think you are trying hard enough to fix the fin, Think duct tape! lol

Oh no. How will I be able to follow you in low vis now?:11: My condolences.

How about drilling a series of small holes on either sides of the crack, and using 50 lb test lines to sew the cracks together. Then coat the threads with polyester resin (fiberglass resin).
