it happened a couple times within 30 dives or so, but now it happened with the past four dives in a row.

the water temp is 75° the air is 87°

after I download the dives to Ocean Log it shows 75° under "Dive" - Min. Temperature.
but under "Dive Detail" it starts at 87° and goes graduatly up to over 100° during the dive 87-89-90-91-92 etc., the deeper/longer I go.
I'm still waiting for a local shop to do the firmware update (they had a pad CD, I was told), could the firmware have something to do with it or do I have to send this computer in?

thanx for your help

Hi Data,
Welcome to my world of Atom 2 software problems, I wrote this to Oceanic on January 13th:

Also on the " dive details" page is lists the temp as between 22.8 / 28.9 C in the dive data details boxes, although I know that the water temp was actually 17 c during the whole dive ( that is confirmed on the history page as extremes of coldest 17 and warmest 17 )

There response was:

If your computer registers 17 degC and Oceanlog registers 22.8 and 28.9 this is most likely due to the sampling rate of the computer see previous email.

That was after I questioned there first response of:

Your computer takes "snapshots" of your dive information at a rate that is set by the user. For example if your dive computer is at a 30 sec sampling rate, it will snap a hypothetical picture (of your dive) every 30 secs. At that point in time your PDC records the information but will not record anything for the next 30 secs. This is where the minor gaps or inconsistencies in dive information are coming from.

So I am told to believe that the sampling rate is to blame for the temperature issues, but even further to this I have set the sampling rate to 2 seconds and it still has exactly the same issues, so if you believe Oceanic that 20 deg F is a "minor gaps or inconsistency" then there is your answer, So I wish you luck with your quest to get a fix, as after 3 ,months I still haven't.

Mark

Ohh, thats just one of many issues I have with my Atom 2, read page 6 of the "Oceanlog Beta" thread for more.

here is an example of one dive, diving in the ocean in 118°F water temp. :D
