Just got the Nauticam housing for the OM and beside the excitement :D to try it out I am wondering a few things for the lucky ones that also have a similar outfit:

1) Can the eyecup on the camera stay where it is? Or is it better taken out?
2) The zoom rings: I see that there is a ring and a spacer (I got the 9-18mm one)... and then I read that it would work also on the 14-42mm kit lens.... Does that mean version 2? The Version 1 is larger so probably I would need the ring for that version correct?
3) any way to adapt the ring to use as a focus ring on the 45mm macro?
4) how to test the leakage detector?

Thanks for any hints answers... :)

Cheers!
Andrea

I would leave the eyecup; it doesn't interfere with the camera in the housing and makes it easier to use when on land.

Version 2? There's a version 2?

I found autofocus to work with the 45mm macro. I've never felt the need for manual focus in macro work u/w.

Wet your finger and touch the two bare contacts on the leak detector to test it.

Well I have the first 14.42mm kit lens which is wider (about 62mm vs. 57mm) than the newer one which matches the width of the 9-18mm wide angle.

What confuses me is that the NAUTICAM chart shows 2 different part numbers (36143 vs. 36144) for the rings. Probably the 36144 works for both 14-42mm II and 9-18mm lenses but not the first version of the 14-42mm lens (which would need 36143). In the chart however it states the 14-42mm version II (2) for the 36143 ring which to me seems incorrect.

I am now looking more seriously at the 12-50mm which seems a nice "hybrid" combo lens to shoot both medium wide angle to reasonable macro performance. Just waiting for the port...

As am I. Hope I receive it before I head to a live-a-board the middle of next month.

Also, I have the zoom zing for the 9-18 and the 14-42, and since I own the latest version of the 14-42 (II), I assume you are correct about one version works for these two copies, and the other ring works for the Version I 14-42.

I ended up buying the 12-50mm zoom. It seems very versatile for use outside the water, it is weatherproof, and... hopefully will give the option UW to do reasonable wide shots as wells as macro when i just do not know what I will end up seeing below. I just need to get an additional port!!!!!!!!!:banghead:
