Just what is the question?

OK, Let me clarify. A situation has arisen in New Zealand where a government department appears to be overstepping its mandate with regards to regulating the New Zealand Dive industry.

Buried in the standards there is a recommendation that "In the absence of an established procedure, dive operators should follow the recommendations of the DCIEM dive tables with regards to exposure to altitude after diving."

This standard has been forced upon NZ dive operators as normative rather than informative and has shut down at least one operator i have talked to for over a year.

I posted this thread to open a discussion on the matter for those involved.
