I'm going to be going on a 10 day trip to Bonaire and figure I'm probably going to be doing quite a bit of diving!

I tend to feel like crap if don't do some amount of excercise on a regular basis. 99% of the time, diving doesn't really count as excersice...

I know that a heavy workout tends to create microbubbles which could increase the likelyhood of DCS. I'm guessing that IF I was to excercise the best time would be early in the morning before the first dive...

How much extra risk would I be exposing myself to by running a couple of miles and doing some pushups/pullups/situps every other day during the trip?

I did a two week dive trip last year to Cayman (38 dives) and I jogged early every morning.

IMHO the most important thing you can do is watch your ascents. Keep 'em slow, and consciously pause every 10 ft.

Of course, the caveat is that my experience doesn't mean it will work for you.

Exercise is beneficial -- if you give yourself a cool down period prior to diving. A four hour time interval prior to diving has been suggested. (Dr. Powell might have other thoughts!)
