I was debating bet renting or buying equipment. But with 4 days of diving in the near future wont the $125 or so I pay to rent the equipment be better used tu buying equipment.

If so can anyone recommend a decent but cost effective package of what I would need? Or am I better off finding something on the classifieds or ebay?

Do you have mask/fins/snorkel?

You're looking at 800-1200 bucks, depending on the level of the equipment, and if you get a computer as opposed to just depth/pressure gauges.

4 dives in the near future but how many after that and when? If it's 4 days, then can be months or so before you see the water again, then rent. If you're going diving for 4 days and see yourself diving again and again, then buy. The advantage to renting is you get to test drive different equipment before you pull the trigger on your own.
