hey all.

im planning for my vacation at the end of the year, and the hotel were going to in cuba obviously doesnt have a safe big enough to accomodate equipment.

now this being the first year i own all my own gear and will be taking it with me, do any of you have suggestions on how to keep your gear safe while at the hotel.

Ive been thinking of taking an aircraft cable style line with a heavy duty lock and ill lock all the gear together, then around the bed or pipes, or hell even the toilet.

Its just ive never thought about this before, and if all the gear is locked together around something awkward, it would be hard to make off with.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have

I suggest you keep your eyes open, your mouth shut and get insurance. Dont be paranoid.
Have a great time!

I agree, there is very little crime against tourists in Cuba due to the very strict penalties.

Travel insurance then no worry at all.
My dive gear is the least of my worries abroad regarding theft.

WHAT THEY SAID

Relax and don't get an ulser sweating about your gear. Besides you may have a much bigger problem if you eat or drink something that doesn't agree with you. With your gear strapped to the can you may wish someone had stolen it when your done. :D

Not sure how you are going to Cuba....apparently not US...

but you might consider a second or third story apt so that you can hang gear on balcony and not have to worry about "run by" theft.
