I was wondering what a good bcd would be for a new diver that would like to continue his education on diving. I currently am training for my advanced open water diver and also want to continue. Any recommendations on good BCD's would be appreciated.
Thanks

I just started diving last summer and had a few regrets on my gears that I bought immediately after certification Just my BCD and regulator, that's it. Everything else I am very happy with. My first brand-new Sherwood Avid BCD - I am not very happy with it and I bought another BCD, Zeagle Ranger. Wow I love it!!! Go for Zeagle, they are the best!

It has been mentioned elsewhere on this forum, but try a backplate/wing before you buy a BCD. I did not when I started diving, bought a very nice BCD, and ended up switching to a BP later. The BCD was only used for tropical/travel and now I have even switched to a plastic BP for that. That said, everybody has their own preference and reasons for using certain equipment. But at least give it a try first.

Nothing wrong with the Sherwood Avid. I dive it here in the St. Lawrence and also in tropical. Great weight-integrated system...

I went out and get a SeaQuest ProQD+. A bit bulky but I like the BCD alot.

But I have already switched to Backplate+Wing setup which I first thought might be a problem for my certification. But I insisted to use it for my Rescue Diver openwater cerfication. Pretty smooth indeed. the important thing is whatever your BCD type is, have your buddy spend some time know what's what and where's where on it. Then you shouldn't have problems.

Not saying BP+Wing is a better choice. Give it a try if you can. You might enjoy it as much as many of us do.

Ciao,
