Fresh water. Brownish in color. About 3/4 of an inch to an inch long. Six legs (three pairs) along the thorax forward set looked like they may have pincers. Tail as long as the thorax and forked at the end. Three paired external gills along the tail. Swims in an undulating movement.

It was a night dive and I didn't have my camera with me so no pics.

I thought it was a helgramite but the pics don't match.

What is it?

What about a stonefly larvae?

They look a lot like grey earwigs.

Also look up dragonfly larvae?

Damselfly comes close, but the gills are in the wrong spot. I knew it wasn't dragonfly.

It was a neat find though.

Mayfly larva?
