Hey I was wondering what people thought of my set-up in order to find out if I will have enough lift or not. I am 6'3" and weigh in at 240. I just bought this wing to dive singles and dont currenlt know if i will use a sta but i dont for now. So do you think 30# is enough(bought the oxycheq 30) but now im not sure if thats enough... let me know what you think.. thanks :D

What size tank? Aluminum or Steel? Are you wearing any ditchable weight to get negative?

Have you bouyancy checked yourself with empty tanks?

If you have your weight right for when your tank is empty, and are wearing ditchable weightbelt or weight pouches, the 30# wing should be way sufficient.

Tom

good point... one aluminum and yes i have weight pockets but dont know how much i need yet(havnt put it in the pool because then i cant return it if i want too(came in today)). so havnt really checked anything though. So do you still agree it is enough. i used to use about 10 lbs in a rental jacket so its hard to say how much i will need.

Here's some things to keep in mind. The wing only has two uses,

1. Keep you afloat on the surface.
2. Help you maintain your bouyancy at depth. There won't be much air in it at depth anyway.

If you are worried it won't do #1, then take it back and get the 40 or 45. I personally have the 45 Oxycheq and it is way more than I need. I also carry a 50 pound lift bag and reel as backup just incase I have a problem with the wing.

you said way more than you need. do you think it is about 15 # more than you need :)

but thats a good point... i suppose 2. isnt a prob but on the surface i wonder because i am a pretty big guy and i mean that in i am broad and have a large frame so i cant realy loose a lot of weight... what do you think... is it enough?

Simple answer is, if the 45 is available and not going to break the bank, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

well said.. now to talk to scubatoys... hopefully i can get it before this weekend.. heading out to weeki wachee if i can get it in time. after breaking her in at the pool :)

oh yeah and do you think the SS si worth it or is it a little redundant... do bladders realy get holes often enough to warrent the 30 bucks or whatever it is?

I'd really think about getting too big of a wing. After all, a 40lb Evolve wing floats double 95s (in a wetsuit. I know, I know, bad idea) easily.

I live right next to you, If you would like to take my 30lb wing into the YMCA down the road and play around you're more than welcome to.
