The GUE Rec 1 course and its accompanying textbook were previewed at the GUE conference this past year. The textbook currently exists only in PDF form, and will probably not be available for wider distribution until GUE begins actively teaching the Rec 1 course. I have seen a printed copy of the book, and while it still needs a little "polish" work (final proof-reading, adding an index, etc), it is definitely complete enough to be used to train GUE instructors on how to teach the Rec curriculum. It's just not quite ready to start sending out to a more general audience.
Note that I am not in any way involved in the development of the GUE Rec curriculum, and am not privy to any sort of super secret info on what they are doing. What I have written above was presented and discussed at the 2008 GUE conference (at one of several seminars that anyone at the conference could have attended), and represents the extent of what I know about the textbook.
