I noticed this book(?) is part of the required reading for GUE Rec. 1. Yet, it does not appear to be for sale on the GUE web site. Is anyone familiar with this text? Is it perhaps part of the course notes and not available separately?

It's in the final stages of preperation. It should be available soon (but I don't know when exactly :) )

It is a text book in it's own right, but is part of the required reading for the Rec level 1 course.

If it is not ready, how can anyone buy and use it? So there is a course offered that no one can complete? Very good!

Currently there are no courses being run. The materials should be ready very soon (days rather than months), once they are, then the instructors will start offering the courses.

I have found this forum most useful when people like me with an interest in DIR practices can use it to get answers about DIR practices from DIR practitioners. As such, my question about the book was about locating another source of information about DIR practices.

...elided...

For now, I say thanks as I have my question answered.

The GUE Rec 1 course and its accompanying textbook were previewed at the GUE conference this past year. The textbook currently exists only in PDF form, and will probably not be available for wider distribution until GUE begins actively teaching the Rec 1 course. I have seen a printed copy of the book, and while it still needs a little "polish" work (final proof-reading, adding an index, etc), it is definitely complete enough to be used to train GUE instructors on how to teach the Rec curriculum. It's just not quite ready to start sending out to a more general audience.

Note that I am not in any way involved in the development of the GUE Rec curriculum, and am not privy to any sort of super secret info on what they are doing. What I have written above was presented and discussed at the 2008 GUE conference (at one of several seminars that anyone at the conference could have attended), and represents the extent of what I know about the textbook.

Is there any way to get a hold of it now?
