We just executed the emed remote test for reentry into the US from Dahab, Egypt.

We carried two or three test kits per person in our party. The test was taken with remote monitoring three days prior to our last flight to the us. It is three days not 72 hour to simplify calculations with respect to time zones.

The process was relatively straight forward. You have to answer a few questions, wait for a monitor, and then execute the test. It takes another fifteen minutes for the test to be complete. You then have to wait for another monitor. It took a total of about 30 minutes to complete the test per person. It’s like a pregnancy test, one line is the test works And you are negative, two lines and you are positive.

Everyone in the group was negative.

Hello,
Was monitor someone on a computer watching you or how did that actually happen, via video call ???????

How did you arrange a monitor ???

I'd heard rumors on other forums that some of the 'remote monitors' were backed up and could take hours to answer with the BinaxNOW testing kits. Recently that seems to have resolved itself. BinaxNOW’s COVID Home Test System Appears to Be Working Again (afar.com)

We've purchased these and from what I gather it's basically a sealed box that you open while on a video call and then you do the test while someone watches. This is basically arranged from a web portal.

Of course, doesn't hurt to have a backup plan .. redundancy redundancy :) Many airports have testing centers that are probably more expensive viable options in an emergency.

Sounds like this tests is a good one too.

You log into the emed website or on the app for the kit.
Ater you are screened fo eligibility, you go into an electronic queue. The monitor pops up on your screen and watches you thru your webcam or iPad cameras.

You see them and they see you. Vey much like a zoom meeting, but simpler.

you have to have your camera positioned so that they can see you and the test kit on a table while you open the kit and execute he test. During the 15 minute gestation period, you do not need to be present. The app counts down the 15 minutes and then puts you in another queue for a monitor. They one online with video on both ends to discuss the results.

our monitor waits were less than 5 minutes. I would consider only doin it 9-5 Florida time.
