I was recently snorkeling at Point of Sand in Little Cayman, and came across quite a few clusters of what looked like large eggs. I'ld find them sitting loose in depressions of the sandy bottom. The were completely transparent, ranging from 1-3 inches in diameter. The only thing inside looked like a dab of loose black pepper. They were firm to the touch kinda like an inflated beach ball. Anyone see these before or know what they were? I asked a few locals and they didn't seem to know.

Sounds like algae. Post a photo or if you don't have one, look at photos in this forum, you should find one.

Now that's service--only 5 1/2 years for a tentative identification. If you post pictures, we can get back to you even more quickly.
