This may sound like a silly question but is there a way to edit info on of past dives on a computer's memory (specifically, the suunto mosquito)?

The first time I used my mosquito, I forgot to set the date correctly and so the date of the dives stored in the memory is July 2005. Is there a way to edit this? From what I understand, the memory arranges the dives according to date so does this mean the "2005" dives will always be recorded as my most recent dives? If so, how will this affect the way the mosquito computes my next dives? I already adjusted the date but this did not change the dates of the dives in the memory.

Twas a stupid mistake but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a silly question at all--been trying to do edit dives on the Mosquito as well...haven't figured it out and finally gave up on it. Once you download the dives, you can edit them, but haven't been able to edit them on the computer itself. If you figure it out, please, let me know.

I think that the only field which can be edited in the computer is the so called "personal imformation" (you can put your name, phone number etc. in case an honest person steals or finds your stolen computer :-) or if you are using several Suuntos), the log-file's sampling rate (10, 20, 30 or 60 seconds).
Also, you can reset the max depth to zero (for free dives too).

That's all.

When you download the log to a PC you can change whatever you want, including dive profiles.

Do you know how much information (if any) is retained on the computer if you remove the battery?

It depends on how long the battery is out. If you just do a battery change, old one out, new one in within a few minutes, there should not be anything lost. I have done multiple battery changes with nothing lost at all (on other suunto computers).

I took out the battery from a Suunto Favor for several weeks. When I replaced the battery I had to set the time and date. The log file and history were unchanged.

Don't know how it works with other Suunto models.

As far as I know the only way is to flush out the memory with new dives.
If this is really causing you a problem you could suspend it in at least 2.5m of water for 36hours which should flush out the profile/logbook memory.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Was able to consult suunto website and this was their reply:

"Unfortunately it's not possible to change/edit the date in the loogbook
of Mosquito. In Suunto Dive Manager it's however possible to edit the
dates, but it won't affect Mosquito's logbook memory. Your Mosquito will
consider the "2005" date as the most recent in the logbook, but it
won't affect the way the Mosquito computes future dives. In Suunto Dive
Manager you can put the "2005" date in the "ignored dives list" if you
already have them in SDM

I guess I'll just have to wait till the problem corrects itself next July -- unless I find a place to suspend my computer underwate (that was a creative suggestion). Again, thanks for taking the time to help.
