So Laurie and I just got back from Cayman. We had an awesome time and dove with Dusty, 19 tanks! Whirlwind.. We had a blast.
I am still shooting 50mm, and found it difficult to switch from my manual settings, generally flash, 100th and around F22, to something I could shoot Eagle Rays with, and they were everywhere!
So I thought maybe I could set shutter priority to 60th or 100th, turn off the flash for that mode, as the Eagle Rays are generally out of strobe range, and I would get a decent shot to work with. And instead of messing with the buttons while I am swimming towards darn things, and potentially changing the wrong thing, I could simply spin the dial to "S".
And maybe the same with non-macro shots. I could set aperture priority mode to something like F8, leave the flash on, and I would shoot the occasional reef or diver shot, and gain some benefit from the flash. But still just spin it to "A".
So my questions is:
What do you do when you are macro and you want to take a picture of something that is other than 2" from the lens?
Thanks everyone for feedback!
