Hi

I am looking for some help , I am newish to DSLR , I have a E-620 with 14-42 lens and want to get it underwater ( I know I need a PT-E06) But i would like some advice about Ports.
I have read a lot of forums and reviews but still a bit lost .
I want a PORT for the 14-42 lens BUT in the near future I want to maybe something better and a MACRO lens (50mm sounds good from what I have read) , The question is which PORT is best / should I get there seems to be a ATHENA dome and of course the Olympus PPO-E05 port , I don't want 5 lens with 5 ports I want the most Versatile port that can be used for 2+ lenses I am aware that the athena is more expensive(thats OK) is better suited.
There is also a lot written about Diopters/ extension rings/wet woody Lens are any of these useful with either port with the 14-42 lens or (my future 50mm macro lens)

Last thing is the Olympus UFL-2 flash any good ??

thanks all for the help evething is helpful

Hi I am surprised that some of the guys havent pointed you in directions as this issur has been discussed a lot.

I have a PPO-E05 with a E-520 and I bought it because it is great for the 14-42 and the 50mm macro. As these are the only 2 lenses I am interested in (I do mostly macro stuff) the purchase has been perfect for me.

The only thing I have noticed is that you cant put a converter ie 1.4 on the 50mm and still have it fit inside the PPO-E05 as the focusing distance is too close to the glass. Still if you dont want to do more than 1:1 this is not an issue.

If it is an issue hop over to Wetpixel and look up the latest discussion on this and see the link to ports for your set up.

Great UW setup BTW and the PPO-E05 is very well made as is the new housing.

Phil Rudin has a great discussion paper on strobes as well which you dont mention.

The general consensus is to skip the UFL-2 although it isnt a bad flash but the SnS 110a and the inons seem to be the go.

Thanks Ardy

Yes I have come to that conclusion also from Talking to a Few shops (reef photo) and a few other forums , Seems better to go for the Inon s-2000 thanks the Olympus
