Those pics are very nice. Wonderful color. I'm sure you are disappointed in the camera.

That is one close up takin' lens!
How close are your subjects to the lens?

Fantastic pictures,
I am seriously considering the E330 as my next camera so I am very interested in your experiences.

What housing are you using?
What strobes?
How close does it focus?
What port are you using?

Picture 3, the fish eye, is great, the level of detail and the colors just love it.

Picture 4, close up of yellow nudi? This looks a fraction out of focus, maybe you drifted back as you took the picture.

Pictures 5,6,7 Fantastic, great colors, great detail.

With the crop factor of 2x for the Oly, the 105mm has a film equivalence of 210mm.

Working distance from the end of the port: 4 inches & up. Plenty of room for lighting and far enough away to not threaten skittish critters.

Ikelite housing with dual Ikelite DS-125 strobes, 5505.58 Ikelite flat port. I went with the long lens to get maximum working distance; the closest the lens will focus is about 4inches from the end of the port.

Thanks for posting Jim. This is really incouraging. I have been seriously considering the jump to DSLR and the E330 is my top choice if for not other reason than the live preview. I already have the IKE strobes so at least its one thing I wont have to buy.

Did you pick up the camera with lens package included (14-50mm) or just the body? Where did you buy your Sigma lens?

Hi, Terry!

You don't want to get the camera with lens package! The "kit-lens" is a lower quality Zuiko 14-45mm; the higher quality Zuiko 14-54mm (subtle difference, huh?) is a stellar piece of glass and is worth a little more money. I bought my camera & separate lens from a brick and mortar store, gasp! Paul's Camera in Torrance, CA was kind enough to let me play with their camera and answer all my questions, so I bought it from them. The last I heard, adorama.com had the 330-body on sale for less than $600.

My Sigma 105 came from B&H (bhphotovideo.com); they usually have the best internet prices and are reputable.

For the housing, ports, and misc. pieces, I use Ryan at reefphoto.com. Ryan knows all the bells and whistles...which port goes with which lens, etc. For specific questions about housings and underwater camera stuff, you can't beat Ryan and friends. They have good prices, too.

My friend, Margaret, couldn't stand it anymore and duplicated my rig. Yesterday, she was in the pool at our LDS playing with her new toy. She is very, very happy about the choice.

As I've said before, live-view rocks. To use a view-finder, in a housing, through water, while wearing a dive mask is insane!

Oly will come out with some new dslrs this year and I hope they incorporate live-view. Of course it will take the housing manufacturers six months to a year to come out with housings. Meanwhile, Rick Coleman, I and others are in the water having the time of our lives!

Go for it!
DSAO,
Jim

Those macro shots are spectacular. I've never seen the level of detail on a Spanish Shawl nudi that you captured with this set of images.

The live view on the E-330 is its top feature for me. One other thing, if you are an 35mm film OM series owner your legacy lenses can be used with the E series DSLRs. There is an adapter ring for those lenses. Or if you simply (and cheaply) want to get a topside telephoto this is another plus. That 2x magnification factor can really work to your advantage.
