hi all,

i woulde like to go for a super macro tool, the dyron UCL67 II or inon UCL 165 for my olympus 50 mm inon macro port.
if enyone knows about the quality of this lenses please let my know.

thanks sail rock diver

I have used the Inon UCL-165 for years with the Olympus 50mm macro, 50+1.4 & 2X tele converters. This optic has worked very well for me. I also own the ReefNet +10 lens and it is very sharp as well.

The Dyron has been reviewed on Wetpixel.com
and also gets high marks.

I really like the ReefNet for image sharpness but it is large and does not have the 67mm thread to add my ring flash to the front of the optic.

The Inon lenses have the 67mm thread and can be stacked with a small loss of image quality.

As good as the Olympus 50 macro lens is you will want the best close-up lens you can afford.

FWIW, I've just received a brand new Dyron UCL167 II from Scott @ Bluewater Photo. I can only say that the build is very solid & high quality. It'll be a while before I have a chance to get it wet in any meaningful way.

sorry phil,
my english ;-(

you are saing the best combo with the 50mm inon port is the inon one?? i woulde like to go for the tele converter but for that i have to order another special adaptor wich makes the system very bulky . so i wanna go for a close up lense. becouse i can use it for my canon g 12 as well.

thanks

I like the Inon one and the ReefNet for that lens. The Inon I use is about +6.5 and the ReefNet I use is the +10. How much magnification you need is up to you. I have never used the Dyron, but have read good things about them.

I think you will be fine with either macro lens. Try to find a local uw camera store if possible to buy from.

They are both light, stackable and good quality. The Dyron diopter is slightly stronger, which isn't necessarily good or bad - the exact diopter strength you want is a matter of personal choice. - Scott

ps - looking forward to seeing your photos Mike!
