My Nitek Duo seems to give me an ascent warning every dive, especially if I'm scootering, but it has done it on dives without a scooter. At some point during the dive, it starts doing it's flashing and beeping routine, and it never stops, no matter how still I hold it during the dive. A reset didn't help. Any idea what coud cause this?

It also flashes confusing numbers. it will flash an odd number, along with the depth...so if my depth is 20 feet, it might flash 56---56----56----20----20-----56----56----56. I haven't paid enough attention to see if there is any relation between the numbers, but it's definitely not my current depth or a stop depth.

It didn't used to do these things. It's about a year and a half old.

Battery is probably getting low. I've heard of this happening before with them.

Buy a Uwatec. It either works, or it doesn't. None of this funny stuff that makes you loose faith in the computer.

Yes, I am biased.

Mine acted funny when the battery went low. No low bat warning, just odd behavior. Went away after changing it. The battery is a CR2032 3V lithium battery, available at any electronics place.

My backup is a Uwatec, but oddly enough my Uwatec won't tell me deco information if I don't have tables for a particular cave :)

Plus, I spent good money on this thing, and expect to have a good product.

I posted here mostly to hear from Dive Rite because I'm too lazy to pick up a phone and call any of the people I know there, but I might should try a battery change. If I don't have one kicking around my dive box, I suppose I can stop at a CVS...

I had the same problem with my Duo. Changed the battery twice and it still happened. My shop sent it back to dive rite and it's been fine since.
Although the "slow down!" alarm still goes off waaaay too much. All I have to do is lift my arm up and it yells at me. Other than that I love it

Here are two more threads on the same issue. On one of them Dive Rite chimed in that battery was the most probably cause as well. I'd try that first and if it doesnt fix the issue send it to them.

Same here. Flipping through it's log I see exactly no dives without the slow warning.

I don't care if the warning goes off, but when it keeps flashing and beeping for the next 1-2 hours, that gets old... I figured the battery must be good to support all that beeping and flashing but what the hey, I'll change it out and give it a whirl.
