I have a Venture wing that's 2 years old.
The other day during a dive I was losing air out the dump valve.
Got home and opened it up thinking I'd find something trapped in there.
What I found really surprised me, the spring had rusted completely breaking in two.
I have several wings, Dive Rite and others, some 10+ years old and have never seen this before.
Is this a fluke?

Yes, it is a fluke. Looks like some spring supplier slipped in a bad one. I would expect the retailer or the manufacturer to replace that spring at no charge. Diverite is active on the board and doing a fairly good job with customer relations.
