Can anyone see any possible problems or issues in performance with mating a Poseidon Xtreme Deep 90 first stage with a Scubapro G250V second stage?

I think poseidon designs their regs to opperate at higher than normal IP (or was it lower?). Poseidon makes complicated and finicky regs. Normally I would think it is fine to mix and match firsts and seconds, but I wouldn't want to do it with a poseidon.

That was my thoughts as well...I just couldn't remember how it was different either.

I couldnt find the IP specs, but it was moot since I dont have any idea how to adjust the IP yet.

Sentence 1: word 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13. The rest you can dismiss as opinion and assign whatever value you want. Note, I have Poseidons 4 xtremes (dives beyond 200ft) and 4 jetstreams (dives beyond 300ft) set-ups, as well as 2 SP MK25/X650 (dives beyond 200ft), and some other equipment configurations for the kids and recreational outings. I'm at 1003 dives and have been diving both Poseidon and SP for last 16years.

You got 2 good pieces of equipment there; they may be able to be tuned to work together or not. I have never tried to mix and match any of my Poseidon 1st stages with SP 2nd stages.

I would suggest you check with someone local in your area that works on both brands of equipment. Alot of great gear out there you can tweak to perform like a race car and they work great. But some times the gearing and performance settings are different between the two race cars and they just ain't gonna work together.

Good luck. Keep us updated.

So far I think I'll just go through the fun of removing one of the MK17's from the doubles rig to mate with the G250V.

I'll worry about tweaking the things and seeing if they match when I have more time and not before a surprise trip.

Posts like this just make me wanna bang my head on the wall! If you don't know, do not even try to make ridiculous statements like you just did. "Xtremes" operate at the same or similar IP's as any other reg on the market... When installed or mixed with other makers' regulators it just needs to be properly adjusted / tuned to prevent free flows and such. I had Xtreme second running on my Oceanic FDX10 fist stage, installed by a tech. Same goes for backward compatibility (Poseidon 1st used with other 2nd)

People who have any idea of Poseidon regulators would never call Poseidon regulator finicky. In fact people who know, call Poseidon first stages state of the art, or work of art... For some reason it has become almost fashionable or the "right thing to do" these days to tell people not to use Poseidon regulators... If the are so finicky or complicated, or whatever, why is it then pretty much every Navy force in the world uses Poseidon regulators?

To the OP: If you ever have any questions about Poseidon you have to ask Bob3 http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/members/bob3.html (Bob T. of Triton Marine) on this board. The guy is among the largest Poseidon dealers in the US. He knows Poseidon reg's in and out...

Also all this stuff about parts shortage is old news btw, i was recently told by my LDS that Poseidon distributorship, now ran by Waterproof, has solved all their apparent "supply chain" issues and there is no more shortage of parts that was observed by many in the past month or two.
