Not sure if this is a really silly question. I was wondering whether it's ok to secure a reg hose to the BC. My OMS IQ has a velcro loop on each shoulder. I've seen people run the inflator hose trough these tabs, but never the reg hose. Wouldn't it be easier to find your reg (assuming you dropped it, etc.) if it were (loosly) "secured" by the velcro tab on your right shoulder?

Thanks!

Two things right off the top of my head. The hose would be tough to use as the reg would not sit in your mouth correctly, and if someone went OOA and ripped the reg out of your mouth, you might have a bit of a situation.

Also, if you have a necklaced second you don't have an issue if you "lose" the primary.

Mechdiver is referring to a typical tec style config and it works. Basic OW agencies teach using a triangle within the mouth to rib cage location and secured for easy deployment. Make sure you can find it and deploy it in one easy move.

I wouldn't use velcro to secure the hose. If you do use something to retain the hose, in case of emergencies it should come loose reasonably easily with just a good strong pull on the regulator or hose.

Perhaps a hose clip like the one at center bottom of the page.

I used to use a clip like this to secure my primary 2nd stage while on the boat (but now just jam the primary mouthpiece up through a D-ring to hold it).

When I teach recreational diving student wear their alternate under the chin on a hose just long enough to allow head movement. seems to make the most sense for all diving so that's what I teach.

And...under the chin is in that silly triangle. LOL
