For those of you with older harnesses, check to see if they actually release. It’s a PITA to retread, but as you can see here, the monofilament line ages and starts to confirm to the path of the threading such that it will not release. Also, there is a lot of pressure on the upper small grommet on the main harness from the pocket, so it will corrode and flake away when the line is removed. I’m going to replace the grommets and the line, which is 2.5 mm in diameter. Off to the craft store and fishing store this weekend.
 
Probably not fishing line, but weedwacker line.
Thanks, easier to find. It’s 46” per side and the grommet is 3/8” or #2, for those who need this information.

So mission accomplished. New grommets and line and the pockets actually release now.
