My instructor showed us this video when I went thru OW class last spring. Very convincing.

The "it wont happen to me" mentality can sometimes have a very high penalty. It's unfortunate that experience is sometimes something we don't get until after we need it.

I am amazed by these stories ( not in a good way). I just can't imagine how anyone in their right mind could even remotely consider going into a cave without the proper training. Aside from the fact that I don't have the intestinal fortitude to go into a cave, I do have the smarts to stay out of one. Caves are cool to look at BUT they can silt out so easy and they take forever to settle out. I feel for the family, this is so sad. I will get my cave diving via YouTube.

This was my first time watching that video, and all I can say is "WOW". For a short to the point video it seems like a must watch, and not a bad idea to show OW students at the end of their course. Thanks for posting.

Never done any cave diving but having some seen great photos and video, there is an appeal but I know the rules and will not be attempting anything like that without the proper training.

Excellent video with a positive ending. As a former avalanche instructor, I used to ask my students what were their goals were for the day. Most goals were, let's ski the xxx couloir, or ski the north face of xxx, or even, let's find the steepest and best powder run. When asked about my goals, my simple response was "a safe return and a cocktail with my wife. Same with diving. Thanks, Charlie
